Missions of the AERES (french agency for the evaluation of research and of higher education)
|
Independant administrative authority established in 2007, the AERES is responsible for the evaluation of higher education institutions, research organizations, research units, training and higher education diplomas, as well as validation procedures for assessing their staff.
As an indispensable feature of moderne research frameworks, the main role of evaluation is to gather opinions and recommendations on research quality, relevance and positioning (nationaly and internationaly).
The CEA evaluation framework, in place since late 2009, is composed of thirty science coucils and evaluation committee units, and works with roughly 400 international experts, among which one third are foreigners, and only 3% of them are from CEA.

Technological Research Department evaluation:

According to the original timetable, fifteen thematics of the CEA have been evaluated in 2008.
The technological research division TRD conducted the evaluation of six topics: “embedded systems”, “interactive systems”, “metrology of ionizing radiations”, “photovoltaics, energy storage and energy efficiency”, “nanomaterials, nanostructuration, materials”, and “instrumentation for biology”.
